Last Weekend...

...we travelled up to Barriere for Chris and I's "10 year High School Reunion" (August 12th). There was a "Fun and Games Day" at the school yard during the day where the little ones got to play on this:

and in the evening, just the adults enjoyed an excellent prime rib (or chicken cordon bleu) dinner at a Restaurant in Barriere. Caroline's parents (whom we stayed with) watched Justin and Ashleigh.

Love the underwater decor? There was even a scuba diver dummy hanging from the ceiling!

We really enjoyed the time hanging out with our fellow classmates and catching up on what everyone has been up to since 1996. Our Grad Class consisted of about 35-37 people. At the games day about 15 people attended and at the dinner 5-6 more people came that weren't at the games day, so not a bad turn out! We're all at different stages in life. Some are married, some are engaged, some not married (either common law or are single) and of course some with children. Two of the girls we graduated with have 9 year olds! There are some new babies, one litte one that attended is 3.5 months old. One girl that didn't come was due to have a baby that day! We don't know if she had the baby or what. There were a few people that didn't move from Barriere, but most of us have and live in the Lower Mainland, Kamloops and Alberta. One girl who didn't attend lives in L.A.

After the dinner, most of us went to a class mate's parent's backyard to hang out. We weren't quite ready to say good bye to everyone, so attended that as well. Even though Ashleigh had been crying for us, Grandma encouraged us to go as we don't get to see these people that often. She knew Ashleigh would eventually go to sleep.

Sunday morning we went to church in Barriere and were happy to see friends as well as Pastor Lance, who married us in Kamloops, but now Pastors in Barriere. After Church, the Sieger's Family had us over for lunch. It was really good to see them as we missed them in July. Chris hadn't seen them in over a year because he missed all the visits that me and the children made last year while he was away for work.

From there, we made our way home. We stopped in Kamloops to have a quick visit with Caroline's sister, Erica, and her boyfriend, Ben. We also enjoyed "screamers", which are slurpies/slushies mixed with ice cream. Ben's place was air-condioned. Yeah!

By a quarter to four, we continued on our journey for home. Just after leaving our visit with Ben and Erica, we saw friends of our's that we knew when we were first married, and lived in Kamloops. They were driving behind us and we waved like mad to them. They recognized us and we both pulled off to an empty parking lot and chatted for a few minutes. It was so good to see them on a whim like that ;0)

We thought we'd do some 4X4in' on the way home and what an adventure we had.

Isn't the scenery beautiful? You may have to click on image to see the picture better.

Oh, and we came across this on the road...

This hill was very steep on the other side. The car would have not survived this...

While we were driving along, we thought we would have to venture up the hill that you can see way ahead of us, but we didn't.

There were nice little camp sites along the way.

Then we came to this and turned right. As were were driving along, we discovered something...we couldn't find the toll booth!!!!!!! Oh no!!...Oh YES!!!!!!!!! Ha ha, that was the whole purpose of this little 9km 4X4 adventure! AND we got paid $10!!! Ha ha ha. We've heard of this "alternate route" to by-pass the toll booth and Chris's curiousity found it!

This picture was taken during our "off road aventure". Two minutes later (6:45pm), Ashleigh fell asleep. Two hours later, Chris was worried that she wouldn't sleep when we got home, so we kind of tried to wake her up, but she kept falling back asleep and slept the whole way home. When we arrived home close to 9, I transferred her in to her crib and guess what? She didn't awake and slept the WHOLE night until 6:45am!!!!!!

That wraps up our weekend. This Friday is Chris and I's 8 year Wedding Anniversary and we are going camping, Justin and Ashleigh too. We might try for two nights. I'll probably blog some pictures from that in my next post.

Today, Chris emailed me and asked what we should get each other for our anniversary. He suggested a "a body lift kit for the pathgrinder". I replied by saying "how about I buy you a can of beans and you buy hot dogs and we go camping". I'm happy with that, much cheaper than a body lift kit!!!!!!

Bye for now.

Looks like you had a great time. I loved my 10-year highschool reunion, although it seems that alot of people don't. I'm waiting not-so-patiently for a 20th reunion in 3 years!
