Our
Year in Review
December
11, 2013
January:
Justin turned 10 years old!! Caroline plugged away at her English
Course (upgrading) and also babysat a 2 year old boy for most of the
month.
February:
Shelby the dog turned 5 years
old!
March:
Caroline turned 35 years old!
To celebrate, the four of us went to Creston to a hotel for the
night. We enjoyed a scrumptious meal out and some tasty cheese cake
pastries from a local bakery (in lieu of cake). It was a wonderful
get-a-way.
April:
"Queen Victoria"
(aka the "new to us" Slumberqueen motor-home) made her
maiden voyage to Calgary. We camped with friends at an R.V. Park.
In the night, the wind was blowing and we were rocked back and
forth. We woke up to ice on the motorhome, but we were oh so cozy in
our beds with the heat cranked. Chris took the kids to Canada's
largest model train show. Caroline stayed behind and visited with
friends in their trailer. On the way home, we stopped at the "Bass
Pro Outdoor World". Most
amazing store in the world.
May:
Caroline completed her English
course with a B. She
was then accepted in the the E.A. Program (Teacher's Assistant).
Also in May, Ashleigh and Caroline went with Ashleigh's class for a
field trip to the Calgary Zoo and Science World! We got to stay the
night in the same building as the hippos and girrafes (Caroline loves
giraffes) and it was quite the experience, even if the peacocks kept
us awake all night!
June:
In early June, we found out that we were pregnant with our third
child! This was not a surprise to us and we could not wait to tell
everyone. I think Chris and I only kept it a secret for a couple of
days. Justin and Ashleigh are extatic and can not wait for baby's
arrival in late February.
July:
on the 1st
of this month, we celebrated one year here in Cranbrook. Around the
20th,
we camped in the motor-home with friends in Sandpoint Idaho for a few
days. On July 30th,
we took ownershop of this house that we have been renting for the
past year.
August:
We took a road trip to the
lower mainland, okanagan and interior. It was the first one in our
mini-van (which we got in April). It was good to get away and we
ended it by staying in a hotel in Golden for a special treat. When
we got home, there was much harvesting to be done in our garden in
which Chris slaved over all summer. The hardest part was building a
fence to keep the deer out!
September:
Justin and Ashleigh began
their second year at "Gordon Terrace Elementary". We were
so happy that they didn't have to be in a new school AGAIN. Justin
began grade 5 and Ashleigh began grade 4. At the end of September,
Ashleigh turned 9 years old!
October:
We had quite the house-full for
Thanksgiving Dinner. Good food and fun.
November:
Justin and Chris tested for
and received their orange belts (1st
level) in Karate! It is a great sport for them to take together.
December:
What a busy month in just the first 11 days! Ashleigh and Justin
practiced the whole month of Nov., for the community Mass Choir (Dec
4). Unfortunately, Justin had to miss the performance because he was
sick. He did get to take part last year. Ashleigh was delighted to
take part as she has been waiting all year (for grade's 4-6's)
December 5, Ashleigh's class held their Business Fair, a program about
entrepreneurship
A couple days later, she got sick and now this week, Chris and I have
been fighting it. Hopefully everyone will be healthy for Chris
b-day, which is in a few days and he'll be turning 36!!
Justin
learned how to cut grass this summer. Ashleigh is in gymnastics and
LOVES it. Chris and Caroline decided that since we never took any
prenatal classes with the first two pregnancies, we'd take a course with this one. We have learned so much and feel more equipped.
Caroline continues to enjoy being a stay-at-home-mom/wife (although
it seems I am hardly home) and will put schooling on hold for awhile.
Chris' job is continues to go well.
Happy 2014 to you all!
Love, Chris, Caroline, Justin, Ashleigh, Thirby (baby),
Shelby, Pingu (bird)
